Friends of Coombe Bissett Primary School
Following the Friends meeting last week we thought we would take this opportunity to update everyone on what has been happening, current events and what is to come.
Christmas Cards - A massive thank you again to Karen Mckeown for another great design and to Julie Wood for printing all the cards. We have raised £315 from this so thanks to everyone who bought them.
Nativity - The goodies, raffle and refreshments raised £180. We would like to say a big thank you to Mr & Mrs Downer for all their time and effort that went into producing a DVD copy of the Nativity. This raised £245 which is fantastic.
Mini Fayre - Another great morning was had by everyone. This event seems to be very popular year after year and this raised £280.
Current Events
Friday 10th February - Cake Sale - We had such a great response raising the most ever of £125 for the last cake sale so please bring your cakes in for this Friday. The more we have the better!
Monday 13th February - Craft Workshop - Following the success of last years Pop workshop we thought it would be great to offer another workshop in the half term. This craft workshop is set to be a great day with lots of fantastic craft and art activities, as well as a few extras. It will be a brilliant day and if you would still like your child/children to come along please send your child/childrens name in along with a cheque made payable to Friends of Coombe Bissett School (£15 for one child, £25 for two).
Friday 24th February - Coffee Morning - This is a great way to meet other parents etc and simply to have a good old chat! Younger siblings are very welcome and have a play too. This will be in the school hall following morning drop off, so please come along.
Tues 28th February - Jamie at Home 7:30pm School Hall - As we didn’t organise a Christmas meal (time went by far too quickly), we felt this would be a good opportunity for an evening out. There will be games and a raffle. Kirsten Webster (Elizabeth’s mum) has very kindly said she will donate any commission to the Friends. There is no obligation to buy anything although you will be tempted by all the lovely things. If you think you are able to attend please complete the slip below or speak to Lizzy, Jo or Kirsten. It will be a great social night out and everyone is welcome.
Dates for your diary
Fete - We are looking into another possible date for the school fete. This was organised for 23rd June but the village are holding a big Jubilee weekend on 2nd/3rd/4th/5th June. As the school fete last year was such a success and a lot of the village were involved, it would make sense not to hold them so close together. So watch this space! As soon as a date is set, we will let you know.
Paultons Park - Due to the end of term being on Friday 20th July this year and the TD day on Monday 23rd July (this is the day we normally do a group trip to Paultons Park), we felt that a lot of people may be away for the summer holidays. There is a TD day on Friday 28th Sept. We know this seems a long way away but please make a note in your diaries as this is when the Paultons Park trip will be arranged.
