During our Remembrance Week our whole school was involved in creating our Remembrance display.
At the beginning of the week our whole school gathered to think about why we remember. Each class explored Remembrance and what it means. During the week workshops were held to enable every child to make a poppy and a wire figure. On Friday 9th November our whole school gathered in the playground and, in small groups, went up onto our orchard bank to place their poppy and figure. When all had been placed we gathered once again in the playground to look at and reflect on our Remembrance display. Our older children then walked down to our village church to take part in an Act of Remembrance. Children read out the names of the people on our village War Memorial, laid a wreath and recited the poem: 'In Flanders Field'. They also had the opportunity to talk to members of the armed forces who joined us for the occasion.
