Term 3 in Oak Class

Posting Letters for our home learner friends

Term 3 has been tinged with sadness at not being able to have all our Oak Class children in school. We have loved keeping in touch through videos, photos, emails and using Tapestry to share our learning and see our friends. We have also been writing letters and sending cards back and forth during lockdown. This has been a wonderful opportunity for writing for a real purpose. EVERYONE loves getting post and this correspondence has been so delightful.

These photos show in school learners posting letters and cards to home learners, some home learners sharing their excitement at receiving post and our in school display of the letters, cards, pictures and photos received.

Long live the art of letter writing and the joy it brings – it is certainly something we have loved doing this half term in Oak Class.

'Signs of Spring' walk around Coombe Bissett village

As part of Science in Oak Class we look very closely at the Seasons and seasonal changes throughout the year. One of the most exciting times to see change is as bulbs burst through the soil and buds start to appear heralding that Spring is indeed on its way. Our Snowdrop walk through Coombe Bissett is an annual meander along the local lanes and fields spotting the wonder of these beautiful little flowers.

Here are some beautiful photos of our youngest in-school learners enjoying a bright chilly afternoon walk. Wellies were a must as we splashed in the stream, squelched in the mud and stomped on frozen puddles we came across.
